Bendigo Health recognises the valuable contribution of eight auxiliaries all in support of Bendigo Health and its values.

These auxiliaries continue the great tradition of raising funds for their chosen specialist areas. Bendigo Health is very grateful and proud of the work and contribution these auxiliaries make to the health service.

Intensive Care Auxiliary

The Intensive Care Auxiliary has raised more than $1 million during its 34 years. Founding president Iris Benbow is still at the helm of this committed group. The auxiliary’s one and three day holiday tours are popular, fun filled events that along with their raffles raise considerable funds to support the intensive care area of Bendigo Health.

Child and Adolescent Unit Auxiliary

The Child and Adolescent Unit Auxiliary has raised funds through various fundraising activities for 85 years. This auxiliary is passionate about supporting the Child and Adolescent Unit and Special Care Baby Unit. They show their passion through hard work and the purchasing of a range of equipment to help make a difference to all children in our care.

Bendigo Palliative Care Auxiliary

Bendigo Palliative Care Auxiliary has supported Community Palliative Care, Hospice and Chum House for 22 years. In past years, the group’s extensive fundraising efforts have made a significant difference to our patients by purchasing bed side tables, syringe drivers and specialised air mattresses.

Carshalton House Auxiliary

Carshalton House Auxiliary is focused on providing special extras for their residents. This year some of the purchasing highlights included a large digital projector that enables television to be magnified onto a large screen for easy viewing and a coffee machine.

Friends of Simpkin House

Friends of Simpkin House has fundraised to show their support of residents and staff for the past 12 years. A special garden at Simpkin House was built with auxiliary funds and includes a seat named after Jillian Howe, a long term member of the Friends of Simpkin House.

Orthopaedic Auxiliary

Orthopaedic Auxiliary is the youngest of our auxiliaries, realising five years of service in 2012. Through their major annual travel raffle and a number of stalls and sausage sizzles, the group has purchased several pieces of equipment that has made a significant difference to the Orthopaedic Unit at Bendigo Health.

Joan Pinder Nursing Home Auxiliary

Joan Pinder Nursing Home Auxiliary has used funds raised to purchase and install large sunshade sails for the outdoor area of the Joan Pinder Nursing Home. The auxiliary also purchased a number of CDs and a stereo and covered the cost of a very popular animal farm that visited the garden area for a day. The aged care nursing home has been supported by their auxiliary for nine years.

Friends of Oncology

Friends of Oncology receive donations throughout the Loddon Mallee region and in June 2015 celebrated 10 years of generous support to the oncology department. The equipment they continue to buy through their fundraising efforts makes a real difference to those receiving treatment for cancer at Bendigo Health.
