A personal way to leave a lasting legacy…
Naturally, your first consideration when making your will is to make appropriate provision for your family and friends. Once this has been decided you may want to include a gift to organisations that have been important to you. Only you can decide where and who your money is bequeathed, if you do not have a will then the state will decide who should benefit from your estate.
As a resident in the Loddon Mallee region, it is likely that you have at some time sought treatment or care through Bendigo Health. Our hospital plays a very important and necessary role in our community however Bendigo Health is much more than just a public hospital. As we know when you live in the country we often have to travel long distances for many services.
You may not realise that Bendigo Health staff work in towns throughout the Loddon Mallee region and although the main hub of the service is located in Bendigo, our medical teams work, often unseen, throughout the whole region. They deliver a vast range of services such as; psychiatric, community nursing, rehabilitation and medical services to the whole community.
The Bendigo Health Foundation and its voluntary board of management who work to provide funding to assist Bendigo Health to continue its service to the community.
By leaving a gift to the Bendigo Health Foundation in your will you are able to support the work of the foundation into the future.
If you have decided to leave a bequest in your Will to the Bendigo Health Foundation, the correct wording would read as:
“I bequeath the sum of $…. and/or……per centum of my residential estate for the benefit of the Bendigo Health Care Group Foundation Charitable Trust, Lucan Street, Bendigo, Victoria for general purposes the sum of $……, and declare that the receipt of the chief financial officer or other authorised officer for the time being of the said Bendigo Health Foundation shall be full and sufficient discharge to my executor for administration of this bequest.”
For a bequest based on a specific valuable item and/or for a specific purpose, your professional advisor will be able to construct the appropriate wording from above.
