Keith has spent a lifetime in community affairs and has been involved in many Bendigo activities and organisations. He has over 40 years in the Real Estate Industry and continues to run a Real Estate consulting business.
He has been a local Government Councillor, School Council Chairman, Chairman & Director of First National Real Estate Group, Chairman of Lead On and many other groups.
Keith has been Patron Bendigo for Homeless Youth, Ambassador for Relay for Life and Dry July. Chieftain for Scots Day out. Life Member Bendigo Apex Club, Associate First National Group and has a Paul Harris fellow award from Rotary. He was one of the founders of Bendigo Weekly Newspaper and long time Chairman. He is also a Director of Bendigo IPTV and runs a weekly internet program called “The Pointy End” which covers politics, local Govt & various other topics of interest. Keith is probably best known for his philanthropy and fundraising activities and has been involved in approx 250 events having helped to raise several millions of dollars for various organisations. He is probably best known for his Prostate Cancer events and this will be his 7th year and will have raised over $500,000- to help find a cure for prostate cancer.
Vicki (nee Hazeldene) was born and has lived her whole life in Bendigo.
She attended Kangaroo Flat Primary and then Golden Square High school before embarking on a Nursing Career. Vicki’s General Training was undertaken at the Northern District School of Nursing and she worked at the Bendigo Base Hospital. A fourth year of midwifery training was undertaken at Bendigo where, apart from a 12 month stint working at Inglewood, Vicki continued her midwifery work at Stanistreet House for the next 5 years.
Following her marriage and the arrival of 3 daughters, the family business attracted a different aspect and was more suitable to family life. Several roles have been filled within the family business with the majority of work done in the farming side.
Now Manager of Corporate Affairs at Hazeldenes, Vicki manages acquisitions, property management and development, grain purchasing and feed as well her continuing interest in the farming side of the business.
Vicki has been involved in many organisations and charities throughout her life and Vicki says that the New Bendigo Hospital Appeal will be the most exciting she has undertaken.
Melissa Buchanan is an Associate at Harwood Andrews Lawyers Bendigo office.
Melissa was born and raised in Echuca/Moama, living in the area before relocating to Bendigo in mid 2014. Melissa has a background in agricultural areas of law from being raised on a New South Wales farming property.
After gaining experience in property, Melissa currently works as a family lawyer in both complex property transactions, children’s issues and court advocacy. She also practices as a business lawyer dealing with matters ranging from company structuring to sales and purchases of businesses or leasing.
Melissa is passionate about community involvement and has previously held various positions in Echuca/Moama not for profit committees. Since moving to Bendigo Melissa has continued to give back to her community, her values strongly align with Harwood Andrews B Corporation certification. She also currently undertakes pro bono work with the Loddon Campaspe Community Legal Centre.
As well as being a committee member of the New Bendigo Hospital Capital Appeal, Melissa is a Bendigo Jockey Club committee member and the Regional and Suburban Young Lawyers Representative for the Bendigo region with the LIV.
Cr Neil Beattie is the Loddon Shire Mayor. He lives with his wife Dot at Catumnal, west of Boort, running a dryland and irrigation farm along with a trucking operation.
He is chairman of the Little Lake Boort Management Committee, a member of the Boort Football Club, and a life member of the North Central Football League, in addition to representing Council on several other committees.
Cr Beattie was elected as Mayor in November 2015 and in 2016 for a further term.
