Being on dialysis is like having another part time job, according to Bendigo Health Renal Services patient Matt Hague.
Any show of support is welcomed by the dialysis patients and that came from Vellux Australia, a premium quality blanket manufacturer.
Vellux gave 50 blankets for ongoing use at the unit to provide added warmth and comfort during dialysis treatment. Mr Hague said it gave him a feeling of control over his treatment which he otherwise didn’t have.
“As dialysis patients we are big users of hospital services” he said. “The Foundation has really thought about what they can do for us and there was probably nothing better they could do.”
At five hours per treatment, patients can get cold being attached to a dialysis machine, unable to move around.
The Bendigo Health Foundation is looking for donations to buy other equipment, including mobile entertainment units, to make the hours spent in the dialysis unit more interesting for patients.
