Through the ongoing support of our sponsors and partners, the Bendigo Health Foundation funds health projects that make a sincere difference to the lives of our patients and their families.

Bendigo Health has been fundraising since the early 1800’s. The Bendigo Health Foundation team, with volunteer support, coordinates all fundraising for the organisation and provides a link between Bendigo Health and various groups, service clubs, individuals, corporate sponsors and philanthropic organisations.

Monies raised through the foundation, fund various aspects towards improving patient care and are allocated to areas within Bendigo Health in a number of ways. Annual funding rounds provide the opportunity for Bendigo Health staff to assist in determining where donated funds are spent across the entire service.  Staff are invited to submit applications for identified equipment and a panel is gathered to determine successful applicants.

With your support the following items were purchased during the 2018/2019 financial year. Thankyou!

Golden Oaks redevelopment

Redevelopment works at the Golden Square nursing home site have included the creation of the new link building, lifestyle spaces, bedroom upgrades and staff rooms and offices. There is also a new fresh cook kitchen to prepare residents’ meals onsite and a new café. The new link building joins Golden Oaks Nursing Home with Carshalton House.

Delta dogs

Each week, four-legged visitors brighten up the days of patients in the Bendigo Hospital. Therapy dogs have been used in the hospital for a number of years, visiting different wards and our Cancer Centre. The volunteer dogs, provided through the Delta Society’s dog therapy program, help normalise a patient’s admission to hospital.

Transperineal biopsy machine

Transperineal biopsy equipment is becoming the standard of care and ensures an accurate and safer approach to the biopsy of the prostate, it also has lower rates of infection post procedure. This results in timely diagnosis and treatment for men with prostate cancer. We thank the many groups and events that donated to help us get this equipment, it truly was a wonderful collaboration.

Phototherapy arms

These two pieces of equipment will mean that babies are able to stay in Bendigo for treatment as opposed to being transferred to Melbourne which is a massive advantage to our families and their wellbeing. They provide a special type of light to treat conditions such as jaundice in newborns.
