This Christmas, help make a meaningful impact on the lives of
our aged care residents.
The 2024 Bendigo Health Christmas Appeal is dedicated to helping make a difference in the lives of our aged care residents by raising funds for outdoor exercise equipment that will improve the health and wellbeing of residents in Bendigo Health’s aged care facilities.
Help make a meaningful impact on the lives of our aged care residents.
Donate today
Our aged care residents deserve the best facilities to support healthy ageing.
By making a donation you have the opportunity to contribute to this meaningful cause by directly supporting the creation of activity spaces at our residential aged care facilities.
The spaces will not just be a place for exercise, but allow intergenerational play for residents and their younger family members.

Supporting people like Marjorie
Marjorie was living independently when a devastating fall almost 2 years ago resulted in a broken femur.
Like many older people transitioning to aged care, Marjorie initially would have preferred to be in her own home. These days she is content to be supported by the caring staff at Golden Oaks and her growing family enjoy visits with Grandma, who at 94 says some days she feel more like 104!
Marjorie’s young great grandchildren now enjoy a small cubby house in the facility’s garden area, as they grow we hope they will relish in an activity space suitable for multi-generational use.
How your donation helps
Your donation will help fund inclusive and accessible outdoor spaces that encourage and provide opportunities for older adults to engage in physical activity and social interaction.
Installing senior specific exercise equipment will help improve balance, strength, functional movement, joint range of motion and mobility for those who regularly use the equipment.

Bendigo Health's Residential Services has been an integral part of the Bendigo community for over 160 years.
Bendigo Health’s residential aged care services extend across two distinct locations encompassing five different facilities, all adhering to the same principle of person-centred care.
By fostering a homely atmosphere, the caring staff ensure both respite and permanent care residents feel comfortable and well-cared for. This means our residents are provided with individual care that meets their different needs and interests.

Helping Joy and other residents
At 91 years, Golden Oaks resident Joy has enviable mobility for a woman of her age. Perhaps it is her grandchildren and many great grandchildren who keep her young at heart during their boisterous visits - the enjoyment they bring her is clear.
Like other residents who live at Bendigo Health’s Golden Oaks nursing home, Joy will benefit from the outdoor activity spaces. The facility will not only provide a space to benefit for her own strength and balance, but an area Joy’s young great grandchildren can enjoy and burn off some of the endless energy they possess.

Our 2022 and 2023 Christmas Appeals were dedicated to building a remarkable play space to support paediatric patients undergoing rehabilitation. Thanks to help from people like you and a commitment from the 2024 Good Friday Appeal construction is expected to start in the coming months.
