Enhancing CPR training
Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we have recently purchased female breast overlays for our CPR training manikins, helping to create a more realistic and inclusive training environment for healthcare professionals learning lifesaving skills.
Cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, yet research shows that women are less likely to receive bystander CPR following a cardiac arrest and, as a result, are less likely to survive. One contributing factor is that many people feel uncertain about performing CPR on women, particularly in public settings.
By introducing female breast overlays, Bendigo Health is helping to ensure that CPR training better represents both men and women. This provides learners with a more realistic training experience, helping to build confidence and reduce hesitation when responding to a cardiac arrest involving a woman.
These overlays will be used across a range of training programs, supporting both healthcare workers and GP's in our community to develop the skills and confidence needed to act quickly in an emergency.
