More than 3,000 people will run and walk through the streets of Bendigo to raise funds for Bendigo Health as part of the Bendigo Ford Fun Run in March 2026.
Entries are now open for the event on Sunday March 1, which will include a one-kilometre kids’ dash, a three-kilometre short course, a five-kilometre run/walk, a 10km Fun Run and a half marathon.
Event Director, Geoff O’Sullivan said the 2026 event is shaping up to be the biggest yet, with participation steadily increasing over the event’s five-year history.
“We saw over 3,000 runners of all ages join the event earlier this year, and we’re looking to grow that number in 2026,” Mr O’Sullivan said.
“With changes to the course direction, we know this will appeal to past participants, newcomers to our event, and even those new to running.”
Bendigo Health Foundation Director, Shaun Spence, acknowledged the significant contribution of the Fun Run, which has raised $215,000 over the past four years in support of Bendigo Health.
“This outstanding result is a testament to the dedication of event organisers Geoff and Nigel, as well as all participants who continue to support our health service each year,” Mr Spence said.
“We are deeply grateful for the generosity of our community. There is a strong sense of pride and ownership in Bendigo Health, which is reflected in the ongoing success of community-led fundraising events such as this.”
Mr Spence said this year’s event will offer participants greater choice in how their fundraising dollars are used at Bendigo Health.
“People may choose to support one of several key areas, including neurology, cancer services, the children’s ward, mental health services, or allow their contribution to be allocated where it is most urgently needed at Bendigo Health,” he said.
The event continues to benefit from strong local partnerships, with Bendigo Ford returning as the naming rights sponsor for the fifth consecutive year.
