The Bendigo Health Foundation has proudly funded a $700,000 training console to support the new surgical robot at St John of God Bendigo Hospital — giving local public patients access to world-class robotic-assisted surgery right here in our region.
This cutting-edge technology is now helping train Bendigo-based surgeons through a onsole that feels more like a gaming experience than traditional training.
This cutting-edge technology is now helping train Bendigo-based surgeons through a onsole that feels more like a gaming experience than traditional training.
The advanced dual-console allows a supervising surgeon to oversee trainees during live procedures and supports ongoing development of skills using simulated procedures.
Bendigo Health’s purchase of the console highlights the strength of the public–private partnership between Bendigo Health and St John of God Bendigo. Eligible public patients now have access to robotic-assisted surgery at the private hospital, bringing metropolitan-level care closer to home and reducing pressure on the public health system.
The training console complements the Da Vinci XI surgical robot, recently purchased by St John of God Bendigo after a $2.5 million fundraising campaign. The robot has been used since March 2025 and is located at St John of God Hospital.
